Palestinian cinema institutions keen to cooperate with Iran’s RIFF

Palestinian cinema institutions laud Iran’s Resistance Int’l Film Festival in developing resistance films.

Palestinian cinema institutions have lauded the role Iran’s Resistance International Film Festival (RIFF) plays in developing resistance films and expressed their keenness to cooperate with the Iranian event, according to a Palestinian newspaper’s chief editor.

Mofid Abu Shamla, the head of the 2nd edition of Gaza International Documentary Film Festival that was held in 2010, and the chief editor of Palestine newspaper which is published in the Gaza Strip, declared the Palestinian cinema institutions’ support for the 16th RIFF in a letter to Seyyed-Ahad Mikaeelzadeh, the deputy head of the Iranian event.

Abu Shamla also praised the efforts by the festival in developing resistance cinema at an international level.

Abu Shamla has also made proposals regarding signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Palestine and the Iranian festival.

In this regard, a meeting was held between Abu Shamla, Mikaeelzadeh and Ibrahim Muslim, the head of Al-Awda International Film Festival via video-conference.

A cooperation agreement between Iran and Palestine that stipulates holding the 16th Resistance International Film Festival simultaneously in Palestine, producing documentaries on the oppressed people of Palestine and their resistance against the Israeli-Arab alliance, and on Iran’s support for the Palestinians against the occupying regime was discussed during the meeting.

The RIFF, one of the most prestigious international film festivals in Iran, is dedicated to productions on wars and the repercussions of armed conflicts in the world.

It also puts a spotlight on the resistance of the Palestinian people against the Zionist regime, Daesh and their terrorist attacks in the region, and the world’s tyrants and their backing of the Takfiri terrorist group.

The 16th edition of the RIFF will be held during two different periods.

Some of its sections will take place on September 21- 27 and other sections will be held on November 21- 27.
